Twister 2.0

Twister is a program by Tracy Hall and Saul Schleimer for constructing triangulations of surface bundles and Heegaard splittings from a description of a mapping class of a surface. Twister 2.0 extends the functionality of Twister, primarily by adding the ability to perform half Dehn twists on ‘pairs of pants’, defined by rectangles between boundary components. The structure of many of the functions included in Twister have also been refined to take advantage of the new member functions available. This reduces the complexity of the surface files and commands required to run Twister 2.0.

This allows us to build censuses of many more different types of surface bundles, for example knot complements.

Twister 2.0 is freely available under the GNU general public license and can be downloaded below.

Download the latest version of Twister (2.3.0)
